Our long modest tees and linen tunics are cut to cover the hips, and many reach mid-thigh, so they work with trousers without an extra layer. Silk blouses are shorter and are designed to be worn under an open abaya or tucked into a long skirt. Length is noted on each product page.

Hand wash in cool water with a gentle detergent or dry clean, and never wring. Dry flat or on a padded hanger out of the sun, and press on low heat from the inside. Perfume and deodorant can mark silk, so let them dry before dressing.

A long top or tunic with wide-leg trousers, or a silk blouse with a maxi skirt, are the easiest bases under an open abaya. Choose a neutral or tonal colour so the abaya stays the focus. Our tops and trousers departments are chosen with this layering in mind.

Lighter linen can be slightly sheer in pale colours, especially white and sand. Our linen tunics use a mid-weight weave, but if you want full coverage in a pale shade, pair it with a fitted under-layer. The product page notes when a piece is sheer.

Yes, a soft ruffle collar sits neatly under a draped shayla and shows at the neckline, which is part of the appeal. Very full collars can bulk under a tightly wrapped hijab; in that case choose a flatter collar or a long modest tee.

Yes, within 14 days if it is unworn with tags attached, for another size or a different piece. Alternatively, our Jumeirah alterations room can shorten sleeves in 2–3 days, but once altered the top cannot be returned. Try the top under the abaya you plan to wear before deciding, as layering changes how long a sleeve looks.
