Abaya length chart

Abayas in the UAE are sold by length in inches, measured from the top of the shoulder to the hem. Choose by your height in the shoes you will wear most; if you are between two lengths, take the longer one — we hem it in store in 2–3 days.

Dresses, tops, sets and outerwear

Our dresses and separates follow UK sizing, which most UAE shoppers know from the malls. Measure over light clothing and compare your bust, waist and hips; when two measurements fall in different sizes, choose by the widest point.

  • Wide-leg trousers and palazzo pants are cut long; we shorten them in store.

Kaftan sizes

Kaftans come in two generous sizes. Length falls to the ankle on most heights between 155 and 172 cm.

Shaylas and hijabs

Shaylas and hijabs are one size. Choose by fabric: chiffon is light and slightly sheer (wear an under-scarf cap), crinkle holds its drape without pressing, and modal jersey stays put without pins.

How to measure

  1. 01Height

    Stand against a wall without shoes; measure from the floor to the top of your head.

  2. 02Abaya length

    From the top of the shoulder, next to the neck, straight down to where you want the hem — usually 1–2 cm above the floor in your shoes.

  3. 03Bust

    Around the fullest part of the bust, tape level under the arms.

  4. 04Waist

    Around the narrowest part of your natural waist.

  5. 05Hips

    Around the fullest part of the hips, feet together.

Abayas in the UAE are sold by length in inches, from 52 to 60, measured from the top of the shoulder to the hem. Pick the length that matches your height in the shoes you wear most, and go one length up for heels of 5 cm or more. Dresses, tops, sets and outerwear follow UK sizing; kaftans come in S/M and L/XL.

Questions about Abaya Size Guide & Length Chart

Should I choose my abaya length with or without shoes?

Choose it in the shoes you will wear most with that abaya. The ideal hem sits 1–2 cm above the floor in those shoes. If you mostly wear heels of 5 cm or more, go one length up from the chart, and keep a flatter everyday abaya in your usual length.

What abaya length is right for 170 cm?

At 170 cm a 58 or a 60 suits most people. The chart places 165–170 cm at 58 inches and 170–178 cm at 60, so take the 60 if you wear heels or like a hem that just brushes the floor. We can hem it in store in 2–3 days if it is a little long.

Do open-front and kimono abayas fit differently?

They are cut with more room through the body and sleeves, so take your usual length rather than sizing up. The open front also means the hem moves more when you walk; if you are between lengths, the shorter one often looks neater in a kimono style.

My bust and hips are different sizes. Which dress size should I buy?

Choose by your widest measurement. A dress that is slightly loose at the waist can be taken in, but one that is tight across the hips or bust cannot be let out much. Our Jumeirah alterations room handles taking in seams; the current price is shown on the alterations page.

How do I measure my bust, waist and hips at home?

Use a soft tape over light clothing. Bust: around the fullest part, tape level under the arms. Waist: around the narrowest part of your natural waist. Hips: around the fullest part with feet together. Keep the tape snug but not tight, then compare with the UK size table.

Do jalabiyas follow the kaftan sizes or the abaya lengths?

Jalabiyas follow the abaya length chart, so choose them in inches by your height, from 52 to 60. Kaftans use the two relaxed sizes, S/M and L/XL. Product pages show which system each piece uses next to the size picker.

Are shaylas and hijabs one size?

Are wide-leg trousers long enough for tall women?
