Questions about Fragrance

What is mukhallat oil?

Mukhallat is a concentrated perfume oil that blends notes such as oud, rose and musk, traditional across the Gulf. It has no alcohol, so it sits close to the skin and lasts a long time; a drop on the wrists or behind the ears is enough. Ours is from Oud Al Layl.

How do I use bakhoor at home?

Place a piece of bakhoor on a heated charcoal or an electric burner in a mabkhara, let the smoke rise, and pass it through the room, or hold a shayla or abaya over it to scent the fabric. Keep it away from curtains and never leave it unattended.

Can I return a perfume if I don't like the scent?

Only if it is unopened and sealed, within 14 days with your order number. Fragrance cannot be returned once opened, and bakhoor cannot be returned at all, for hygiene and quality reasons. If you are unsure, smell the fragrance at either store before buying.

Is the hair and shayla mist safe on silk?

The mist is designed for hair and fabric and is lighter than an eau de parfum. Spray from about 20 cm onto the inside of the shayla rather than the face of delicate silk, and test a hidden spot first. Avoid spraying directly onto pale silk.

Can I try Oud Al Layl fragrances in store?

Yes. Ask the team at either store to try a fragrance before you buy; fragrance is a focus at Al Barsha alongside everyday abayas and shaylas. Trying on skin is the best way to choose, since oud and musk develop over the first hour.

Do you deliver perfume and bakhoor across the UAE?

Yes. Fragrance and bakhoor are delivered across the UAE like the rest of the collection, usually in 1–2 working days in Dubai and 2–4 working days elsewhere. Bottles are packed to travel safely; tell us straight away if anything arrives damaged.
