Questions about Outerwear

Do I need outerwear in Dubai?

Yes, more than visitors expect. Malls, offices and restaurants are strongly air-conditioned all year, and desert and winter evenings from December to February can be cool. A long cardigan or a relaxed blazer over an abaya or dress is the most useful layer.

Can I wear a blazer over an abaya?

Yes, a relaxed oversized blazer sits well over a closed abaya or with an open-front abaya worn as a dress layer. Our blazers are cut generously on the shoulder, so take your usual size; size up only if you plan to layer over a heavy fabric.

How does the cropped tweed jacket fit?

The tweed jacket is cropped at the waist with a relaxed shoulder, so it sits neatly over a maxi dress or a long skirt without bunching. Take your usual UK size. It looks best with high-waisted pieces that meet the hem of the jacket.

Are your long cardigans warm or lightweight?

They are designed as light-to-mid-weight layers for air-conditioning and mild winter evenings rather than true cold. If you are travelling somewhere cold, layer them under a coat. The product page lists the yarn and weight. A long cardigan over an everyday abaya is one of the most practical pieces for mall and office days.

Can blazer sleeves be shortened?

Often, yes. Blazers without buttoned cuffs or with a simple sleeve finish can be shortened in the Jumeirah alterations room in 2–3 days. The tailor checks the sleeve construction first. Altered outerwear cannot be returned. Bring the blazer with the layer you usually wear underneath so the sleeve length is pinned correctly.

How do I store outerwear during the summer?

Clean it before storing, then hang blazers on shaped hangers and fold knit cardigans to stop them stretching. Use breathable cotton covers rather than plastic, and keep pieces away from humidity; a sachet or a little bakhoor-scented air keeps them fresh.
